Meet Jake
Jake is an aspring Full Stack Software Developer with a passion for learning and problem solving. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the University of Michigan, with an expected graduation date of May 2025. Jake is a dedicated and driven individual who thrives in fast-paced, challenging environments. He is committed to continuous growth and development, actively seeking mentorship opportunities and learning from a variety of experience during his academic and professional career. Jake recently completed an intership with Credera in their Chicago office, where he worked as a Full Stack Technology Solutions Intern. He has also worked as a Full Stack Engineering Intern at the ZEUS Lab and as a Team Leader for a consulting project with the City of Prague's Office of Information and Communication Technology. On campus, Jake is involved in the Michigan Sport Consulting Group (MSCG), where he has held various leadership roles, including Project Manager and New Analyst Program Director. He is also an American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer, with extensive experience working with clients to enhance their fitness and overall well-being. Additionally he has worked as a Software Developer for the SPARK Electric Motorcycle student project team.
Outside of academics, Jake is a lover of athletics. He is an avid skier and an aspiring surfer, having recently completed a solo trip to Lisbon to attend a surf camp. He is also passionate about Formula One (F1) and has attended the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and the Canadian Grand Prix. Two of Jake's greatest passions are the Detroit Lions NFL team and the Michigan Wolverines College Football team. He has never missed a home Michigan game while in college and was able to attend the Rose Bowl this past year to see Michigan send Nick Saban into retirement and advance to the College Football National Championship Game. This semester, Jake is learning to play the guitar, adding a creative outlet to his routine and continuously pushing himself to acquire new skills.
Jake is shaped by his work experience, academic pursuits, and passions, but most importantly he is defined by his upbringing. Jake was raised by a Social Worker and a founding employee of a non-profit organization, Community Housing Network, which helps those with disabilities or low income find affordable housing. His parents instilled in him the values of hard work, empathy, and service to others, which have guided him throughout his life. Jake is a firm believer in the power of community and the importance of giving back, and he is committed to using his skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the world around him.
Jake is currently seeking a Full Stack Software Developer position for Summer 2024. He is excited to continue his journey in the tech industry and is eager to contribute his skills and knowledge to a dynamic team. Jake is open to opportunities in a variety of industries and is particularly interested in roles that allow him to work on projects with real-world impact. He is passionate about roles that provide opportunities for mentorship and growth, and he is committed to a culture of continued feedback and learning. Credera
During my summer internship at Credera, I had the opportunity to work as a Full Stack Dev Technology Solutions Intern in their Chicago office. This role allowed me to grow significantly both professionally and personally. I was heavily involved in developing a new Credit Check and Payment Experience for our client, Service Experts. My responsibilities included frontend integration with various APIs and working extensively on Critical Flow Testing and Unit Testing for TSX components. I was fortunate to meet with the client daily and present demos of my progress on a weekly basis, which provided invaluable feedback and opportunities for iterative improvement. My experience at Credera was marked by mentorship and growth, which greatly impacted the final application we delivered.

ZEUS Lab
In the summer of 2023, I worked at the Zettawatt Equivalent Ultrashort Pulse Laser System (ZEUS) Lab, where I contributed to the development of the MyZeus Portal alongside the lab's lead developer. A notable project was the creation of a calendar application designed to manage and schedule lab activities efficiently. This role involved deep technical collaboration and provided significant experience in developing applications tailored to specific technical requirements and user needs.

IFSA Prague
During my study abroad program in Prague in Winter 2024, I led a consulting project with the Office of Information and Communication Technology (OICT) to explore the application of Machine Learning and AI within government agencies. As Team Leader, I coordinated project activities and managed the integration of advanced machine learning techniques. Additionally, I developed a model for my machine learning class to predict sleep quality based on Fitbit data, demonstrating my ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical, real-world problems.

My academic journey at the University of Michigan has provided me with a robust foundation in various areas of computer science and beyond. I have excelled in courses such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Intro to Computer Architecture, Web Systems, Computation Theory, Database Systems, and Python for the Sciences. Through these courses, I have gained strong skills in C++, C, Python, JSX, backend development, frontend development, assembly, and computation proofs. These experiences have not only sharpened my technical abilities, but also fostered my problem-solving skills and critical thinking. Additionally, I have pursued coursework in German Language and Liberal Arts, particularly History, which have broadened my perspective and enhanced my interdisciplinary knowledge.

Michigan Sport Consulting Group (MSCG)
Since September 2021, I have taken on various leadership roles within the Michigan Sport Consulting Group (MSCG), including Project Manager, Project Advisor, and New Analyst Program Director. My tenure has been marked by my involvement in a project with a baseball team, where I developed a Python package for data analysis to automate manual workflows, which earned the club's Trailblazer Award at our 2022-2023 banquet. This experience honed my project management skills and demonstrated my ability to drive efficiency and innovation within a team setting.

SPARK Electric Motorcycle
As a Software Developer on the Data Acquisition team for the SPARK Electric Motorcycle student project team, I developed a data acquisition system to monitor and analyze the performance of the motorcycle. This role involved collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to design and implement a system that could collect and store data from various sensors on the motorcycle. My contributions were instrumental in optimizing the system's performance and ensuring accurate data collection for analysis.

Community Housing Network
Both during the summer of 2021 and 2022 I worked as a Coronavirus Emergency Rental Assistance (CERA) Specialist at Community Housing Network. In this role, I assisted clients in applying for emergency rental assistance through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) and facilitated communication between clients and landlords to ensure successful application submission. This experience deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families in securing affordable housing and provided me with valuable insights into the importance of community support services.

Outside of my professional pursuits, I have a love for skiing and I am currently pursuing my passion for surfing. Recently, I embarked on a solo trip to Lisbon, where I attended a 4-day surf camp. Additionally, I am an avid Formula One (F1) enthusiast and have had the opportunity to attend the Emilia Romagna and Canadian Grand Prix.
In my free time, I have taken up learning the guitar as a creative outlet, constantly challenging myself to acquire new skills.
